Hurricane Felix slams into Central America

Felix hit the Caribbean coastline of Nicaragua and Honduras as a Category 5 hurricane, the most powerful type of storm, and then weakened to a Category 3 within hours. Despite losing strength, the storm is still battering coastal areas with high winds bringing with it the threat of major flooding. Thousands have fled the area, but many indigenous people are said to be stranded on the Honduran border.

Help victims of this storm by supporting the relief efforts:

CARE; Donate Now
Preparing its immediate relief efforts to reach an initial 23,000 people with food, water, sanitation services and shelter supplies.

MADRE; Donate Now
Sending emergency aid to women and families threatened by storm; also helping victims affectively rebuild their communities on a stronger foundation.
